GOODWOOD MINI MAX DRIVES SWARM THE PODIUM IN EARLY REGIONAL SERIES ACTION

TORONTO, ONTARIO – JUNE 4, 2008 – With the first two rounds of both the ORKC and BSRKC series already in the books, three young drivers from Goodwood have made their intentions clear – they can compete on any track for top positions…and they intend to keep doing it.

The latest in their string of early season successes came this past weekend at the BSRKC Round #2 event in Leamington, Ontario where the trio of Artem Korolev, Michael Taibi and Cameron Morrison came across 1-2-3 in Mini Max final action on Saturday. The trio dominated from qualifying to final checkers in their first ever appearance at the Point Pelee Karting facility. After posting the top three times in qualifying, Taibi and Morrison (both in their rookie Junior Lite and Mini Max seasons) took care of business in the prefinal finishing P1 and P2 at the stripe, while Korolev sat out due to an earlier incident in the Junior Medium prefinal. Always up for a challenge Artem “The Russian Rocket” Korolev re-joined for the Mini Max feature, working from the back to the front for an impressive victory.

After the final race, Michael Taibi commented, “If I had to lose the race, I’m glad I lost to a friend – Artem, Cameron and I always tease each other about who will be on the podium….now there is no teasing.” Michael’s father Joe added, “The future certainly looks bright for Goodwood Kartways and the Intrepid Canada National Kart Team.” Cameron’s father Mike Morrison, who sits on the board for the Toronto Kart Club notes, “Racing at such a competitive club on a very challenging track has made all these young drivers better – they push each other every race, constantly raising the bar.”

In addition to Mini Max action, Taibi and Morrison were also on the podium in Junior Lite action this weekend with second and third place finishes this Sunday. The third place finish for Morrison this past weekend was a repeat of his position in the opening round action of the BSRKC series in Sutton, Ontario two weeks ago where Morrison again finished third behind fellow Toronto Kart Club member Gio-Pizzale Rhead and Artem Korolev, who is becoming very familiar with the top step of the podium in the Mini Max Class. Artem looks to carry his momentum in to the Canadian Championships in Grand-Mere but one thing he can assure himself of is the intense competition of his fellow Intrepid Junior pilots Taibi and Morrison.

In ORKC action over rounds one and two, these three talented drivers also showed their skills in a number of other classes – perhaps none more impressive than their 6,7,8 place finishes in a 32 Kart Honda Junior Final. Quite possibly the three youngest drivers in the field, Korolev, Morrison and Taibi finished just behind a few of the of the best Honda Junior drivers in Ontario.

Korolev and Taibi also look strong in ORKC F1K Cadet action, currently sitting first and third in the points after two rounds. In the Mini Max division which is presented and sponsored by Joe Taibi and the REA Race group, Korolev, Taibi and Morrison have also dominated this field in the early rounds of the ORKC series and are all currently sitting in the top five, with Korolev in the lead points position after taking the win in Round #2 in Hamilton.

All three drivers will look to sharpen the axe over their competition and fine tune their Intrepid karts over the next two weeks at the Toronto Kart Club Races #4 and #5 at their home track Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario before heading off to Innisfill for round three of the ORKC series June 20 through 22nd.

Goodwood Kartsport team owners and accomplished race car drivers Daniel and Marco Di Leo are both very proud to have such great young talent sporting the Intrepid brand and are even more excited to be able to assist these young drivers in reaching their dreams of one day racing amongst the best drivers in all forms of motorsports.
